Plymouth Pirate Weekend

HISTORY: Plymouth Pirate Weekend organised by Plymouth Waterfront Partnership is now one of the most popular annual events in the city, having grown over the years since it began first as Pirate Day back in 2011. Today the lively weekend of pirate-themed activities dominates Sutton Harbour and the Barbican throughout a Saturday and Sunday in May.

EVENT: This large-scale festival of all things pirate-like involves music, dance, food and plenty of ‘ooh arrs’, with free fun events taking place all weekend. Activities include fancy dress competitions, entertainers like a Captain Jack Sparrow impersonator and stilt-walking pirates, tall ships berthed in the harbour which visitors can tour, live musket firing, sword fighting demonstrations and family-friendly puppet shows.
